Ben Sheets (1-0) gave up an early homer to Jeff Kent before retiring the next 22 batters he faced in a two-hit performance that led the Milwaukee Brewers to a 7-1 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday.
He pitched the first opening-day complete game of two hits or fewer since Tom Glavine (1-0) tossed a two-hitter for the Braves against Astros in 1992.
This marks Sheets' 12th complete game in 167 starts. The ace says the shoulder problems that hindered him last season didn't bother him at all during spring training.
Dodgers starter Derek Lowe (0-1) gave up six runs and walked five in four innings. Brady Clark had the other hit for LA, a double to left in the top of the ninth inning.
