B.J. Ryan on the DL

The day after B.J. Ryan blew his second save in five chances, the Toronto Blue Jays placed their closer on the 15-day disabled list with a strained elbow.

Ryan, who gave up four runs in the final inning of Saturday's 10-7 loss to the Detroit Tigers, will be examined on Monday for further evaluation.

The lefty screwed up only four saves in 42 opportunities last season, but is 0-2 with a 12.46 ERA so far in 2007.

Setup man Jason Frasor will take over the closer's spot and righty Jamie Vermilyea, who was called up from AAA Syracuse, will take Ryan's place on the roster to be used as the long man out of the bullpen.
