Spring Fever: Cubs @ Angels

Angels 9, Cubs 6

In the midst of a steroid scandal, Gary Matthews Jr. hit one of three homers by the Angels in the fifth inning, helping Los Angeles beat the Chicago Cubs 9-6 on Friday.

Chicago ace Carlos Zambrano struck out four and gave up one hit in two scoreless innings. He also made a couple of big predictions for himself and the Cubs. "I believe this year I will win the Cy Young and I will enjoy that," he claims. "Besides that, we will win the World Series. I guarantee you that." We are totally holding you to that, Carlos.

Vladimir Guerrero and Chone Figgins also homered in the fifth off rookie left-hander Clay Rapada and Jose Molina hit a two-run double for the Angels. Eric Patterson had a two-run homer for Chicago in the eighth and while Cubs got three hits and four RBIs from Matt Murton, likely to share time in left field with Cliff Floyd this season.
