David Wells has elected not to retire, but stick around for a pennant race, instead.
Boomer and the Los Angeles Dodgers (his ninth club in 21 years) settled on a deal Thursday, with Wells making his first start in a Blue Uni on Sunday night against the New York Mets.
After struggling in his last four starts with San Diego - going 0-3 with a 14.33 ERA in that time - the 44-year-old hurler was
Wells will most likely replace righty Brett Tomko in the Dodgers rotation. Tomko, who pretty much sucks at pitching, is 2-11 with a 5.80 ERA, so the change is more than welcome.

The 66-61 Dodgers are 5.5 games behind the NL West-leading Arizona Diamondbacks, and 2.5 back from the Pads in the Wild Card race.
