Minnesota Twins pitcher Scott Baker started the season in a funk. His record and ERA were disappointing coming into June (just 2-6, with an ERA of 6.32). All of the sudden, he's made some "mechanical adjustments" and is now hurling into badassery again. Mind you, this is the same Scott Baker who had a perfect game going into the ninth on August 31, 2007 (and then after he gave up a walk, the no hitter was busted up by that bastard Twins killer Mike Sweeney). He also has some complete games under his belt, which these days, I must say, is pretty impressive since pitchers can't seem to get past the 5th inning anymore.
In his last two starts, he has definitely come out of the funk. Last night, he made it into the 9th with a 10-0 lead (let's try to forget he ran out of gas and earned a couple of runs, and the score ended up being 10-5 after he left the game). In his previous start against the Cleveland Indians, he had a career high 10 strikeout game. Nice.
Whatever these mechanical adjustments are, let's hope they hold up through the rest of the season. And are legal, of course. And that he gets the run support to chalk up more wins. And the middle relievers don't blow his leads for him.

Once again, Gardy leaves a guy in just 5 runs too long. It's a tough call though. Baker was lighting it up - Nathan should've never even seen the hill in what wasn't even close to a save situation heading into the ninth! Meh, a win's a win.
Especially for the Twins on the road this year.
Let's keep in mind that the 87 team had a SUPER crappy road record of 29-52.

GO TWINS! That was a great win yesterday - road victories have been hard to come by, like Marea pointed out. I wish R.A. Dickey was still a starter, he rocks the Reardon Beard.
